If You Are Killed, It's Your Own Fault
Al-Qaeda in Iraq has issued a statement warning Iraqis not to vote in the elections on January 30, 3005. They plan to attack the polling places, and will kill people who are there. Okay, that's a fair warning. But, to pass the responsibility for killing those people to themselves is just too much. How can you claim that by voting a person is responsible for his or her own death, when you're the person or group doing the killing? That kind of thinking is just like the thinking I wrote about in my previous post Stay Back 200 Feet.
Mr. al-Zarkawi has decided that he is not responsible for anyone's death who dies in one of his attacks on a polling place. What kind of logic is that? It's the kind of logic they're fighting against! That's just the same logic that Bush and Rumsfeld used when they blame the invasion of Iraq on Saddam Hussein. No, it wasn't Saddam Hussein's decision that we invaded Iraq, it was our decision. We are the ones who decided to carry it out. There's no shirking the responsibility for that. Of course, the same is true for fighting the invasion. If you don't like the idea that we are invading and you decide to fight, don't blame the invasion for your decision! Your decision is your decision. Just like Mr. Bush's decision is his decision. It's his responsibility that the US military invaded Iraq and killed so many innocent Iraqis. Likewise, it is Mr. al-Zarkawi's responsibility that the has car-bombed and killed so many innocent Iraqis. Let's not let either one of them off the hook for what their decisions have caused. Both of them are responsible for killing innocent people, let's not forget that.
So, are you guilty in the eyes of God of suicide, if you're Iraqi and decide to vote tomorrow? No, absolutely not! If you take action to kill yourself such as shooting yourself, cutting your wrists, swallowing poison, etc. then yes you're guilty of suicide. By going to vote, you're deciding to take a risk, but you're not deciding to kill yourself. Let's keep those things clear in our minds.
